3 Ideas from Me
Four weeks ago, my daughter, Gabriella, asked me when I was going to visit her. She said, “You know, Dad, just because I’m a junior in college doesn’t mean I don’t need you to visit me.”
Well, friends, she got my attention. I told her that I would like to stop in for a short visit before I headed to Oregon for a week of conducting workshops. She said, “I would love that, Dad,” and I replied, “Me too!”
I arrived in Nashville in time for us to attend the Vanderbilt football game. We enjoyed watching one-half of the game and decided to head back to her dorm room. She had some schoolwork to do so we went to the science lab to work together. It reminded me of when she was in high school, and we would go to the coffee shop to work.
We were both very content just being around each other. We didn’t need to talk nonstop; we just needed to be together. After we finished working, we took a long walk around campus. We visited the bookstore and spent time walking and talking at a very large and beautiful park.
After a couple of hours, we met up with her friends. Several of them joined us for dinner at our favorite hang-out restaurant. We talked, laughed, and listened to some great live music.
All in all, Gabriella and I spent 8 hours together. In this short time, we reconnected, recharged, and enjoyed being present with each other. I realized that when life gets busy, we should remember the quality of time trumps quantity, and it also leaves you and your loved one smiling 😊.
Side Note: Gabriella, I needed that visit as much as you did. I love you!
2 Quotes from Others

“The greatest gift you can give someone is your time, your attention, your love, and your concern.”

1 Question for You
Who in your life could benefit from spending some quality time with you? How would you benefit? I encourage you to reach out to them and make a plan to get together.
Dr. Donnie’s Answer: I’m looking forward to spending a day of quality time with my two oldest children, Rachel and Donnie III. We are meeting in Tampa on Friday to get together and support Hannah (youngest child), who competes in her first Triathlon on Saturday morning. Go, Hannah!
