3 Ideas from me, 2 Quotes from others, and 1 Question to help you reflect on your work-life wellness and balance habits this week.

3 Ideas from Me

I. This can be an exciting time of the year as 2022 is drawing to a close and we are approaching 2023. I’m a believer in new year’s resolutions because they allow us to write new chapters in life.

I begin by looking in the rearview mirror and reflecting on my past daily behaviors. After all, our lives are governed by our habits. Research shows a majority of our daily actions are habitual. Our habits consist of good, somewhat acceptable, and bad habits.

II.

I’m reflecting this week on my habits. The process I use resembles a traffic signal. Just as traffic signals shine red, yellow and green lights, our habits do the same if we choose to look.

I’m writing a list of my most impactful habits. My paper has three sections, Red, Yellow, and Green. In the red section, I’m writing my bad habits that I wish to stop. The yellow section is my somewhat acceptable habits, and my green section contains my good habits.

III.

My new year’s resolution is to stop my bad habits. I will proceed with caution on my somewhat acceptable habits. I will drive even faster with my good habits. I understand removing a bad habit is easier said than done. But even the longest-running red lights eventually turn green. The key to success is to keep your eyes on your habitual traffic lights and take action.

There is a simple solution if you drive into 2023 with distractions and fail to see your traffic signals. Just turn and ask your shotgun rider or backseat drivers. Yes, your spouse and children are well-equipped to tell you what you ought to do.

2 Quotes from Others

II.

1 Question for You
