3 Ideas – 2 Quotes – 1 Question and Answer from Me to help you reflect on your work-life balance and wellness habits this week.

Before I begin this newsletter, please allow me to give you a quick update:

Sabbatical Update:

It’s been many weeks since my last newsletter. During this time, I’ve taken time to reflect, pray, seek wisdom, and refine my approach to creating the most meaningful impact in the fields of work-life balance, proactive behavioral health, and well-being. It’s been a season of proactive retooling and realignment—a personal sabbatical to ensure I bring my best to this vital work.

I look forward to sharing more about my new workshops and training.

Wishing you a Happy New Year filled with balance, growth, and blessings!

3 Ideas from Me

Turning Someday into Today!

I. A Family Tradition of Reflection

Many of us set New Year’s resolutions. I know I have, year after year. It’s a process I genuinely enjoy—not just for the excitement of setting goals but for the deeper reflection it allows. I love taking time to think about my faith, calling, family, friends, and self-care.

I’m grateful this message has taken root in our family. Today, all my children actively participate in the tradition of setting New Year’s resolutions. They dedicate time to reviewing the past year, celebrating the highs, learning from the lows, and creating new goals and vision boards to guide the year ahead. My wife is no exception. She’s a master at reflecting and assessing her progress, making small adjustments as needed to stay on track.

II. The Challenge of Resolutions

We’ve all heard the statistics: most New Year’s resolutions fail. Research shows that 23% of people abandon their resolutions by the end of the first week, 43% by the end of the first month, and only 9% ultimately succeed.

What sets the successful 9% apart? They focus on daily actions—what they can do today—rather than being consumed by the end goal. In contrast, those who struggle often tell themselves, “I’ll get to it someday.”

III. Finding Your Someday

When you catch yourself postponing your actions for “someday,” remind yourself that you have the power to turn Someday into Today. Every action you take brings you closer to your goals and vision.

So, as we enter this new year, let’s commit to living with intention. When we choose to act, we can humbly say:

“I found my Someday—Today.”

2 Quotes from Others

I. “God never runs out of fresh starts for His people.”

— Joyce Meyer, American Pastor

II. “Inaction breeds doubt and fear.  Action breeds confidence and courage.  If you want to conquer fear, do not sit at home and think about it.  Go out and get busy.

– Dale Carnegie, American Writer

1 Question for You

Pause for a moment while looking inward, ask yourself what have you been putting off for “Someday”?

What is it, and how would your life and those you love change if you found your Someday; Today?

Dr. Donnie’s Answer

For most of 2024, I found myself holding back from going “All In” with Jesus Christ. By that, I mean fully depending on Him—not just in moments of worship or during difficult times, but in every aspect of my life. I overlooked inviting Him into every detail: my thoughts, plans, actions, and everything in between, trusting Him to bless it all.

I’ve been a Christian my whole life, and practicing my faith has always been central to who I am and what I do. But as I look back, I see that I practiced cautiously. I had unknowingly placed limits on God’s power, and here’s the thing: God generally chooses to move as much as our faith allows.

At the start of 2024, my resolution was simple yet profound: Take the limits off God. Although I made steady progress for the first 259 days through prayer, meditation, continuous learning, and support from family and some incredible Christian brothers—both far and near, I knew there was more.

Then, on Christmas Day, something extraordinary happened. The transformation I had been working toward finally took root in my heart and spirit. Christmas became more than a celebration of Christ’s birth; it became the day I truly surrendered and found my someday. That moment is now etched permanently in my soul, a turning point I will carry with me forever, expressing itself in my thoughts, feelings, and actions.

Looking ahead, I believe 2025 will be filled with blessings — not just for me, but for my loved ones, my friends, those I serve in my workshops, readers of this newsletter, and, God willing, every person I encounter daily.

As we all move forward, may we continue striving to love one another and live fully in faith.

May God bless each of us as we pursue Him wholeheartedly.

I would be honored to hear your answer to the question above.  I know you’ve been thinking about emailing me “someday” regarding my newsletter questions.  Would you be willing to turn your someday into Today?
