3 Thoughts from me, 2 Quotes from others, and 1 Call-to-Action Question to help you reflect on your work-life balance and well-being habits this week.
3 Ideas from Me
I.
Three weeks ago, I talked about taking time to Reflect and how it can provide us with a road map of where we’ve been, where we are, and where we want to go.
Two weeks ago, I talked about Resetting our frame of mind through self-forgiveness and how this mirrors the act of pushing the reset button.
II.
Last week, we discussed Rebalancing our daily behaviors to align with our priorities in life. We should begin by considering who will benefit from our new behaviors and what we want to do.
You can find the above newsletters on my website if you want to refresh your memory. Please remember the art and science of reflecting, resetting, and rebalancing is not a one-and-done activity.
III.
Continuous improvement requires evaluation and action. To continuously improve our daily habits, we must cycle through the process and begin anew.
Fortunately, a reminder of how to do this is within our grasp. Much like how an advertising executive increased shampoo sales, we can do the same for our healthy habits. The next time you pick up a shampoo bottle, please read the last two words of the instructions – Rinse and Repeat!
2 Quotes from Others
I.
“Rinse and repeat brings me once again into the hands of the Potter to shape me as He wills.”
– Jean Wise, Spiritual Director and Author
II.
“Let’s build wellness rather than treat disease.”
– Bruce Daggy, Nutrition Consultant and Educator
1 Call-to-Action Question for You
If you have been reflecting, resetting, and rebalancing a behavior over the past three weeks, which area in your life was it associated with? For example, physical health, family, mental wellness, spirituality, etc.
Would you be willing to Rinse and Repeat? If so, what is the next thing you want to do?
Dr. Donnie’s Answer: I’ve been focusing on my physical health. I want to average 150 minutes per week with my cardio exercise. Lately, it’s been averaging 90 minutes. The only way to increase this average is to get off my butt, put on my running shoes, and go pound the pavement. Believe me, that’s exactly what I’ll be doing once I hit send on this newsletter – Don’t think, just Do! Rinse & Repeat!
