3 Ideas from me, 2 Quotes from others, and 1 Question to help you reflect on your work-life wellness and balance habits this week.

3 Ideas from Me

I.

As I walk around our backyard lawn, being sure not to step in our dog Charlie’s fertilizer contributions, I notice a few spring weeds are beginning to grow. Some are clover, some are vines, and others are sharp and thorny.

If I leave these weeds unchecked, they will aggressively spread their undesirable effects throughout the yard. Their fast-growing efforts absorb much-needed nutrients from the soil, inhibiting the grass from growing and surviving.

II.

Much like how weeds can overtake our yards, negative thoughts in our minds can become our brains’ default pattern of thinking if we don’t put a stop to it.

Just as we can sprinkle weed killer on our lawns to choke out the weeds, consciously thinking positive thoughts can choke the negative thought patterns that can run rampant. The more we choose to think positively, the less time and energy we give negative thoughts to live. When we restrict our time and energy from negative thoughts, they die.

III.

I begin each day by spending three minutes thinking about what I’m grateful for regarding the previous day. All of these thankful thoughts are naturally positive. I then spend three minutes in prayer. I finish with thinking about the three most important things I want to accomplish that can positively impact my purpose.

My morning routine starts my day with positivity. I feed and water those positive thoughts all day. I also take mental notes of the positive experiences happening in the current moment. Being mindful of positive experiences makes us happy. It’s like watching our beautiful grass grow. Alternatively, when we notice a weed growing in our mind, we can quickly pull out the weed killer and drown it out with the power of positivity.

2 Quotes from Others

The subconscious mind does exactly what the conscious mind tells it to do.”

II.

Whatever we feed to our minds and then nurture will grow! Either positive or negative.

1 Question for You
