3 Ideas from Me

I.

I recognize some might think I errored in the title. You might think, “Hey, Doc, clouds need the sky to float around; they don’t need the land.” I won’t disagree that clouds need the sky to float, but they also need the land in their most desperate times.

Please entertain me as I review one of our elementary science lessons. Clouds are made of water droplets. Within a cloud, water droplets condense onto one another, causing the droplets to grow. When these water droplets get too heavy to stay suspended in the cloud, they fall to the land as rain.

II.

If it weren’t for the land, the clouds would have nowhere to drop its life-giving water. Just as the clouds need the land, firefighters, law enforcement officers, and all public safety professionals need the citizens of their communities. They need them because they have an abundance of care and love in their hearts and need the people in the communities they serve to release it.

The most giving, kind, and humble professionals I’ve had the privilege to work alongside and serve with are employees in the public safety environment. They, and so many of my first responder readers of this newsletter, often find their clouds growing until a release of love is required. All of you release it by faithful training, serving your communities with compassion and kindness, and providing the utmost care.

III.

Your cloud release is demonstrated by your unabridged willingness to run into a burning building to save lives, tackle criminals before they can harm the innocent, inject Narcan into a fellow human who lost their way, or work with the paroled to get their lives on track. It is you whose altruistic clouds are filled daily with love and kindness.

The clouds of our universe need the land because they need a place to unload their life-giving water. Much like how plants, animals, and people are grateful for the rain, we, the citizens you serve, are forever thankful for the selfless care and love you provide us daily. Without your outpouring, our lives and communities would look like a wasteland. Thank you, my friends, for being the altruistic clouds, the clouds who pour unto others and expect nothing in return. We honor and cherish you and your acts of love. Thank you for raining on us each and every day

2 Quotes from Others

I.

“He who wishes to secure the good of others has already secured his own.”

– Confucius

II.

” Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.”

2 Corinthians 9: 6-8
